Kibbutz Nir Yitzhak is located in the northwestern Negev desert of Israel, between Hevel Shalom and Hevel Eshkol, under the jurisdiction of the Eshkol Regional Council. It was founded on December 8, 1949 and is affiliated with the Hashomer Hatzair youth movement. The kibbutz was named after Palmach commander Yitzhak Sadeh.

Nir Yitzhak is a community with both long‑time members and residents of various ages. The kibbutz has a diverse population that includes kibbutz members, young adults, and others choosing communal life.

The kibbutz was established in the early years of the State of Israel as part of the effort to settle and develop the Negev region. From its early days, it grew through the efforts of its founding members and later arrivals, reflecting the pioneering spirit of the kibbutz movement.

In recent history, Nir Yitzhak was affected by the October 7, 2023 attacks, during which residents experienced loss and abduction. Since then, most community members have returned and continue to rebuild and strengthen communal life.

The kibbutz engages in agricultural activities and other economic projects typical of kibbutz life. It also co‑owns Shahen Agriculture Co., a field crop production company operated jointly with Kibbutz Kerem Shalom.

Nir Yitzhak emphasizes community life and shared values as part of the broader kibbutz tradition. Mutual support, cooperation, and engagement in communal activities are central aspects of daily life.
